Creating Speaker Notes in PowerPoint

Many presenters like to use notes that go along with their PowerPoint slides. These notes can be printed and used for reference or combined with their related slides to create handouts for an audience.

To create a Master Notes page

If you have text to appear on all notes pages, simply create a master page and enter the appropriate text.

  1. Open the PowerPoint presentation.

  2. From the View menu, select Master > Notes Master.

  3. Optional: You can change the location of the slide image or notes box if desired. Simply click on the slide or text box and drag to the desired location.

  4. Optional: Add text, header, footer, date, etc. as desired.

  5. From the View menu, select the desired viewing option.

To add Speaker Notes

  1. Open the PowerPoint presentation.

  2. From the View menu, select Notes Page.

  3. Select the notes box at the bottom of the page. Enter notes for the current slide.

  4. Use the scroll bar to navigate through slides.
