Inserting Scanned Photos in PowerPoint Presentations

Add some zing to your next presentation by inserting a scanned photo! It's quick, easy, and takes your presentation to a new level. Follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Note
Scanning software varies from scanner to scanner so consult your user manual for proper instructions on how to scan a photo.

To insert a scanned photo in a presentation

  1. Scan the desired photo.

  2. Open a PowerPoint presentation.

  3. Navigate to the slide in which you want to add the photo.

  4. On the Insert menu, select Picture and click the down arrows.

  5. Select From Scanner or Camera.

  6. Edit the photo as desired.

  7. The image appears in Microsoft Photo Editor, an application that provides editing capabilities. If you select Typical setup when you installed PowerPoint, you have already installed Photo Editor. To verify that Photo Editor is installed, make sure that you are in Slide view. From the Insert menu, select Object. The following dialog box appears. Note that you can insert many types of objects.

Note
PowerPoint Photo Editor is included in the PowerPoint software package. This program uses OLE to share information between programs. When you create or modify a scanned picture in a PowerPoint presentation, the Photo Editor menus and toolbars appear instead of the PowerPoint menus and toolbars.
