Jumping to the Internet from PowerPoint Presentations

PowerPoint makes it easy to do all sorts of things through the use of actions buttons. You simply add an action button to a presentation. Then, you define how to use this button during the slide show. Consider the following options:

  • Jump from one presentation to another without closing the first one
  • Jump to a slide not contained in order
  • Start a movie
  • Go to an Internet address

To jump to an Internet address from a PowerPoint presentation

This example reveals how easy it is to add a jump to an Internet site to a PowerPoint presentation.

  1. Open the PowerPoint presentation.

  2. Navigate to the slide to which you want to add the action button.

  3. On the Drawing toolbar, select Auto Shapes.

  4. Select Action Buttons and select the desired button. You can choose any button.

  5. Click to place the button on the slide. The Action Settings dialog appears. This is the dialog in which you determine the button action.

  6. Select the Mouse Click tab.

  7. Under Action on click, select Hyperlink to and then choose URL from the drop-down listbox.

  8. In the Hyperlink to URL dialog, enter the site address and click OK.

  9. Click OK again to insert the button.
