Aligning Objects in PowerPoint

Before you can begin to align objects, you should take advantage of the drawing ruler. This may help you determine where you want to align objects.

Note
The drawing rulers only appear in Slide and Notes Page views.

To display rulers

  1. Open a PowerPoint presentation.

  2. On the View menu, select Ruler.

Note
The appearance of the ruler changes depending upon what is selected. For example, when you select a picture or an object, the ruler remains in the center.

To align objects in relation to each other

  1. Open a PowerPoint presentation. (Make sure the drawing rulers are displayed.)

  2. Select the object you want to align. To select multiple objects, press the Shift key while using the mouse to click on the desired items.

  3. Click Draw on the Drawing toolbar.

  4. Select Align or Distribute. Then select the proper alignment.
