If you frequently need to create presentations in
which you run applications for demo purposes — a software training course, for example —
we have found a new addition to your presentation library: Milori Training Tools. Training Tools
is a suite of four programs that make computer training and presentation more effective. According
to VBPJ Magazine, "it is the first software that teaches software." The programs contained in
the suite are PC Chalkboard, MagLens, Finger Prince and Audisee. You can use these programs
together or independently — and we think several of the tools are worth a try.
PC Chalkboard
PC Chalkboard is a tool that allows you to "draw" on top of other running
applications. Milori touts this tool as the "electronic Etch-a-sketch". It allows you to demonstrate
running software applications while "writing" over them.
In this screen shot, the PC Chalkboard arrow tool is used to show where
to drag-and-drop files. It helps demonstrate the location of the files before and after the
operation. It also shows the exact files to move. Notice the tool itself is relatively invisible.
It resides on top of the running application (Windows Explorer). PC Chalkboard also comes with
Rectangle and Circle tools for drawing other shapes as well.
Note
Truly interactive presentations, like the ones you can create with Milori Training Tools,
are the best way to keep an audience interested. So many multimedia projectors come
equipped with "special effects" features on the remote control. These features allow
you to annotate presentation slides on the fly. For example, Epson PowerLite projectors
allow you to highlight sections of a slide with a spotlight, bar, box, and more. For

MagLens
MagLens lets you focus the audience's attention on your mouse movements.
The area closest to the mouse is magnified — so viewers can see minute screen details like buttons,
options, text, and more. You can also pause and "freeze" over an image. You can use MagLens
to magnify your mouse as you move around the screen, or use it to take static mini-snapshots
of the screen. You can even set the magnification level, window size and position, and even
the shape of the MagLens.
Finger Prince
Finger Prince is an organizational tool that allows you to put all of
the reference documents for a presentation in one source. Just right-click on the Finger Prince
taskbar icon to access everything you may need for your presentation. You can launch slide shows,
open reference documents, play sound files, display web pages, and more! You can even assign
"hot keys" to execute actions.
Audisee
The last training tool in this suite is Audisee — an interesting
tool that allows you to display "bursts" on mouse clicks or keystrokes. The idea behind this
tool is that during an interactive training session, you perform countless actions (clicks,
key strokes, etc.) that the audience cannot always "see". Audisee allows you to draw attention
to these actions by displaying bursts when you perform the following:
- Mouse Clicks
Audisee makes it much easy for an audience to "see" a mouse click. It displays a "starburst"
at the tip of the mouse whenever you click.
- Key Strokes
Many of us use shortcut keys for common actions. However, in a demonstration environment,
you may not remember to say "Ctrl C" for "copy". Audisee does this for you.
While this tool has many useful applications, it is nice to know that
Audisee is completely customizable. You can choose to display mouse clicks but not key strokes,
etc.
